All,
A special meeting of the State Central Committee of the South Dakota Republican Party was held on August 24th in Oacoma. The meeting was properly convened under Section I, Paragraph 7B, of the South Dakota GOP Bylaws (2024 version), and thus was an official meeting.
Accordingly, included are links to the State Central Committee's final draft of the meeting minutes, which summarize the proceedings and motions made and passed during the meeting.
The agenda was primarily focused on the key ballot issues that will be decided in November, as well as competitive races and other election-related matters.
There were 94 certified state central committee votes present (including proxies) representing 29 of South Dakota's 66 counties. The 100 attendees included three regional directors, our national committeewoman, six state legislators, Attorney General Marty Jackley, and the top of the GOP ticket this November (Kristie Fiegen).
There were 25 guests who were largely county party officials who are not current state central committee members.
Below are links to the meeting minutes and also the slideshow that was presented to guide the various discussions, and which identifies the various discussion leaders.
Straw polls were taken on the various ballot propositions to gauge a "sense of the attendees" present. The votes were unanimous with the exception of that on Amendment E, which was tabled without a recommendation.
A motion was unanimously passed at the end requesting that the State Party divert $10,000 to the No on Amendment H campaign.
